Why not simply work in an SVN Branch (or if you use Git simply in
your local working copy)?
Why should this ever be required?
I developed the new control version independently from the old one, both
versions can be used side-by-side.
Who would fix the widgetset issues in a new branch? These can be fixed
in the trunk as well.
