When FireMonkey is different from the VCL, it's also different from the LCL.
Your choice would mean fpMonkey *instead* of Lazarus.
OTOH it would be nice to use the Lazarus IDE with other libraries than LCL.
Hard to do, though, since many IDE windows have to be overridden (OI,
component palette, form designers, package installer...)
As long as the firemonkey stuff depends from TComponent, nothing needs to be
changed. All is in place, even the development of non-TControl stuff can be
done with Lazarus as it is today.
