Please excuse a dim question: what is best practice for implementing something like the IDE's "Messages" window, i.e. a sequence of text lines always visible, without the requirement of displaying graphics? Does TListBox.MakeCurrentVisible work- the documentation doesn't specify whether "item" is simply an indexed line or if it's an object.

Can the preferred solution display a "music rule" background, i.e. alternate lines of different colour?
