That's highly dependent on the gui toolkit you use. Some gui toolkits are just crap at multi-platform support, and others are very good. Developing our company apps, there is absolutely no extra effort in supporting Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris or Embedded ARM Linux devices over Windows. I'm sure with some internet searching you can figure out what gui toolkit I use, but our toolkit is not the only one that makes such reliable cross-platform development easy.
