Based on Tim's and Luca's posts KDE is not related to the problem. However 64-bit OS is related. Can others confirm it?
Anyone else saw these lines in stderr : (lazarus:10785): Gdk-WARNING **: Attempt to draw a drawable with depth 24 to a drawable with depth 32 They show in the same console you started Lazarus from.
