For 32 bit I recommend to keep 7.2 which is shipped with Lazarus.

There were many issues with newer versions.
I do not know how 7.7 and 7.8 are doing.
On 64 bit, sorry, I do not know (so code typhon is afaik shipping a
newer version.)
