I don't see any such errors with Linux + QT. You should try Carbon or Cocoa with OSX. BTW, AnsiUpperCase / AnsiLowerCase are the right functions to use with the new UTF-8 support in Lazarus. It is even Delphi compatible even though they use different character encoding internally.
