I must also precise that after removing the reference to the printersetup
component, and ignore the warning complaints, I could compile my project
which still refer printerdlgs in a uses clause, and that it is still able to
print, but of course not to select a printer. It becomes really strange, and
I get lost.
Should I put the packages somewhere else and re-install ?

Make sure you are running the re-compiled version of Lazarus. You can
set where Lazarus compiles to at [menu]->Environment->Environment
options->Files->Lazarus directory.
