Hmm I think KOL project (for win32 only) there is one by Thaddy de Koning, maybe
you could get some ideas from it and convert it to non KOL linux/win32 cross
platform.

Might not be what you are looking for since it is part of KOL and you'd have to
just get ideas from the code, KOL does work with FPC but of course is not
related to lazarus so much.
