The database(firebird) don't interest in this case because the date of
TDateEdit is not saved in DB, it's only for a search, where a blank
TDateEdit result a search without date at the "where" claule. So I need
a null or empty TDateEdit sometimes.

Hi.
Why TDateEdit can't be empty? Executing my software, when I leave the
SQL Servers Date/Time fields and the "data-aware" components that access
them, doesn't support empty values as 0 in integer or "" in strings or []
in sets.
What database sql server are you using ?
M$ SQL Server just added an "elapsedtime" and "elapseddate" data types
that suport them.
Other databases allow the use of null values for all data types, including
date fields.
You may store your date fields as strings or integers instead.
And again, sorry my bad English ;-) .
You haven't heard my bad english :-D
