Hello.
Although I belong to: " 3. Newbies. Newbie developer is developer who still
don't make up his mind for his language of choice. They still "search" for
the best language for them. They're gonna be our prospective users. If we
can convince this people to use FPC/Lazarus, then we're gonna have big and
growing FPC/Lazarus users in the future. :)",
I wrote to a local IT magazine (see www.bug.hr), which is very
Microsoft-centric by the way, that I would like to see some article about
Lazarus as a freeware/open-source alternative to Delphi. Interestingly, they
responed promptly and wrote a very nice article about the Lazarus (see
http://www.bug.hr/izdanja/tekst.asp?id=71957). The article took very strong
positive aproach to both object pascal and Lazarus. It said that "lazarus is
probably the easiest way to write cross-platform applications today.".
Though the writer of the article mentioned that Lazarus is obviously still
in beta and buggy, the overall message was very positive. It has some
influence I think, because these days I noticed that some people mentioned
Lazarus and the article in some discussions in local newsgroups. For many
people this was the first sound about Lazarus...

Greetings,

Zlatko

To me propaganda implies lying by a state, and marketing lying by a corporation.
This is true ...

"Marketing" is not neutral, but commercial. It does not mean exactly
"spread the word",
but more likely "build a strong image of something, so that people
would buy it"
(sometimes at the expense of quality ...). Anyway, the idea of seling makes the
term "marketing" not to fit very well in our case.

"Propaganda" sounds better ( even though the word might have an issue
because it was used in expressions like "communist propaganda" ).

The most neutral term i can think of is "Promoting FPC/Lazarus" .

Cheers,
Adrian Maier
