Hello,

The current Lazarus forum has some issues, like:

* lot´s of people can´t register (has this being solved?). We need
to solve this in order to force people to register before posting,
because there have being too many spam attacks.

IMO, the amount of spam is still managable. And as long that is the case there is no need to register.

* Bad organization of the topics. You will notice that forums such as
Misc or General have a lot more posts then the others. This shows that
the topics are badly organized.

This shows nothing. There are many subjects which doesn't fall in other topics. Grouping them in new topics would create a lot of topics with a few posts. Besides a lot of ppl just post.

Now, specifically about bad topics organization, here are some ideas I had:

1 - On "Using Lazarus" section there are various sub-topics, but there
are very few posts on them. "Questions on how to use the IDE Editor"
for example. How many problems can have with the code editor? I think
we should merge all this 5 sub-topics into only one. This will make
them ocupy less visual space with not much used forums.

It is a topig for editing, code copletion etc. Clearly defined. Removing that will cause more postings go to misc.

2 - We could add a new forum section only about "Programming". I mean,
there are topics for IDE usage and installation, but not for using the
Lazarus Component Library itself and for general programming questions
related to Lazarus.

Then a section as Programming is a bad choice.

3 - A new subforum to put Windows CE questions together.

The moment there are significant postings a new sub-topic is created. It done before for Mac OSX and Databases

4 - And latter perhaps add the Free Pascal subforums to the Lazarus forum.

We already spoke about merging, but the 2 databases are completely different, so that has to be sorted out first.

Marc
