I discovered AutoPackage [http://autopackage.org] a few weeks back,
and think I might use it to package my software with it. It works
really well, is self-contained and can be used as a GUI or Console
installer.
What if we try a Lazarus installation with it? Has anybody else
attempted this before?

What Ubuntu seems to be lacking is volunteers for making a Lazarus package.
