On kubuntu it installes and runs without problems and that includs the simple applications that I tried to create.

The fp-* packages are the official 2.0.4 packages.
The new packages are fpc-src and lazarus.
Please test and tell me under which distributions they work. Lazarus
should run and compile projects out of the box. An icon under
programming should be installed. Installing packages should work.
Any feedback is welcome.
