Compiler options are :
-S2cgi -OG1 -gl -WG -vewnhi -l
-Fu../../../lazarus-0.9.16/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/i386-linux/
-Fu../../../lazarus-0.9.16/usr/lib/lazarus/lcl/units/i386-linux/gtk/
-Fu../../../lazarus-0.9.16/usr/lib/lazarus/packager/units/i386-linux/
-Fu. -oproject1 -dLCL -dLCLgtk
Looking good.
My path to Lazarus is :
/home/colin/lazarus-0.9.16/usr/lib/lazarus
Ok
When I did a 'test' in the options dialog, it told me there are three
paths to fpc compilers, maybe I forgot to delete the old compiler?
Ah. There is no problem to have multiple fpc installed, except that you
have to be more picky about the order of search paths. See below.
How do I delete an old compiler? I am scared to delete anything in
case it all stops working again!!
I just did a 'make clean all' and it made no difference at all, it
still can't find the Interfaces unit.
Then it means, the 'make clean all' uses a different compiler, than the
IDE.
The 'make clean all' uses the ppc386 in the search path. You can find
out the path with 'which ppc386'.
The IDE uses the one set in the Environment Options.
I am considering just starting from scratch again, first thing
re-install Ubuntu which will give me a clean slate, I still have all
my Delphi sources etc on the Windows machine, and I trust I will
understand a little more than I did last time!!

Well I give up, I simply cannot get anything to work. I have changed the
compiler path, the lazarus path, done make clean all so may times I can
do it in my sleep.....
This afternoon I am going to re-install Ubuntu and start again,
hopefully this time something will work!!
Thanks everyone for your patience and consideration for a fumbling Linux
amateur, I still have my Windows 2000 machine so all is not lost....
Colin
