On my workstation splitter now looks good with default theme. On my laptop 
with same distro and same theme there is no "grip".
With gtk2 it is always bevelled out and there is also no "grip"

Sorry... don't now how to call this in english. with grip I mean the dots on 
the middle of the splitter that you can grab with mouse to move the splitter.
