Because there will be no more Win32 API use from Microsoft in the future.

Please stop spreading this FUD. This is the lazarus mailing list and not [EMAIL PROTECTED] MS said they'll never port Office to .Net so they can't drop .Net.

See article (from some years ago) on Borland community website by
vice-president and others explaining how they almost lost the Win32 train
(they had a nice DOS product, Turbo/Borland Pascal) and that they wouldn't
lose the .NET train now. All future applications for Windows will have
managed .NET APIs etc. and you won't be able to interoperate with them
easily from your app if you don't support .NET. Eventually Win32 API will
die off (even though MS tends to keep on supporting old APIs for years for
existing customers to not leave to other vendors [I like it they do so])
