Mozilla support ActiveX if you rebuild its sourcecode with a certain option I've read,
but not necessery. The idea is that when you install the runtime it installs a Netscape plugin DLL that works as a container for controls (for IE they use a separate AX control, or just make the DLL work both as Netscape plugin and COM inprocess server / ActiveX control [easy to do])

Yes. And will eventually have various versions, like:

Apache module or stand alot server using lnet (or something else)
