I'm not sure about the Owner draw comment, but a TComboBox can be used
as a Edit as well, and then add the new option to the list (though
coding is needed for that).  The other use, is to do a quick search
(filter) while the user types text.

Having it ReadOnly, doesn't give you that features - no typing of text.

drawn combo boxes. Then it changes the style from drop down to drop down list.
