You don't have to use FillWord or FillDWord.  They are *slightly* faster when 
your buffer size is a multiple of 2 or 4 bytes, but I doubt you'd ever notice 
the performance increase.


FillChar will be very fast and safe.  It will write 4 bytes at a time, and even 
if you give it an odd size to fill, like 23, it will write 5 DWORDs and 3 
bytes.  You can't overshoot the length if you give the exact size (hint: use 
sizeof).
