I don't know how CVS works, so wasn't sure what I had to type in as a password.
Tried ENTER and cvs and still nothing.

It just sits and the 'CVS password:' prompt. I randomly tried a CVS
site from SourceForge and it worked fine there. So I guess that
confirms that something is not happy with the alv.ath.cx server.

can somebody confirm this ? the server is up and running ...
for me everything looks good.
