I use openSUSE10.2 with KDE and get the same result. I installed lazarus from
the rpm's with Yast. It all works fine, but on clicking the icon I get the
following message :

"KDEInit could not launch '/usr/share/lazarus/startlazarus".

It starts fine from CLI (shell) for me as user "ak"

ak>lazarus

and it all seems to come to life.

This looks like a KDE problem to me. I will try it with older versions of
suse and kbuntu installations - I have at least 6 partitions with Linux
installations, sharing data in another partition (and booting with grub from
yet another partition - in all ha1..hda14, to use Pascal notation :-)

Happy New Year,
Old Al.
