Yes, it may be the best way to deal with it. Most programs requiring
root privileges are made like that. Then it's up to the distro to
decide, according it's policy. For instance the Kde ppp dialer (kppp)
was suid root in Mandrake (I don't know about Mandriva), while Red Hat
uses userhelper for it.
