How about this Vincent? http://www.mattkruse.com/javascript/mktree/documentation.html

Do you think you would like to use a tree to sort out everything? The nice thing about it is that you customize the use through a css (which we could change to the css used by the fpc site). And the page is static so it should work everywhere, although there is a problem for browsers that do not support javascript (are there any widely in use?).

I like this idea. It says it degrades in a unordered list for non javascript browsers, which is a good alternative.

If you want I can make you a sample page. Can you tell me how you would like the levels to be realized?

Yes, please do.

1. native OS
2. native architecture

3. target OS
4. target architecture

No extra level for target OS and target architecture for now. We are talking about 5 or 6 files maximal for now, so this is still good enough
5. mirror

Can we put mirror in a side bar, like we have now?
Or as line items after the file, so you go to a file and choose the mirror to download it from.

6. stable / unstable

This should be the third level.

And then a level with file names.

Take a look at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92177&package_id=176151

Here the levels are
Package, Release, Filename.

We would have
Native OS, Native CPU, FPC Version (stable/unstable), Filename

Vincent
