I dont need terminal protocols, just need to send a byte and receive a byte and set the serial port parameters.
That's all. I can build up whatever I want from there.

I did a random search on the web and got the source but the makefile is not bash-happy.

I have a simple serial unit that I have used in Delphi for many years that I am sure will convert without a lot of work.
