Maybe it's not used by any units and not included on the makefile.

I believe that is the problem! I included 'dirsel' in the
implementation uses clause of another unit I know gets compiled in the
LCL. And magically after recompiling the LCL, I have dirsel.o and
dirsel.ppu files in my /units directory.
I'm also fixing quite a few things in the dirsel.pas unit. For one, it
doesn't compile - a syntax error in a IF statement. And fixed a few
other things. Will submit a patch soon.
