Hello, I am in contact with someone at the EU who could maybe help use further with legal advice. In order for this person to be of use, we need to provide a charter. We have currently none !
Whatever country the foundation will be based in, a charter will be needed, so this needs to be made first; In fact, it can be done in parallel with the searching for a country. I am willing to draw up an initial charter in english, but will need some help. Things that need to be covered (other than the usual legalese of names and addresses of initial members of the board): 1. What is the purpose of the foundation. 2. How someone can become member of the foundation. 3. How someone can become member of the board. 4. What do benefits (if any) members receive from the foundation. 5. How the foundation can be disbanded (if that is ever needed). I suggest people write their ideas and suggestions in the WIKI under http://wiki.freepascal.org/foundation_charter I put some sample entries. Later, those who will make up initially the members of the board can pick what seems feasible, and make up a real draft in more or less correct english, so don't be shy :-) Meanwhile I will see if it is possible to obtain a sample, such as for instance from the firebird foundation; I suppose they have a similar goal to the one of the Lazarus foundation, so maybe we can get inspiration from that. Now it's up to the users again.
