I'm forced to use, besides more recent systems, also an old RH9, kernel
2.4.25 (and all the rest equally old) for compatibility with a number of
installed applications, using a modified kernel to provide hard real time,
In this platform I can develop and run Lazarus GUI applications
smoothly, but I've met a weird problem when trying to work on non LCL
applications.
Project -> New -> Program makes the editor windows disappears, and I
find no way to make it reappear, except opening another GUI project.
File->New-> Program exhibits most of the times the same behavior, but
sometimes the editor windows stays there (with the new program skeleton
properly in).
Roughly the same problem arises with all the new project types which
either don't have a form, or don't show a dialog asking for something.
Moreover if I attempt to open an fpc project (.lpi) the same thing
happens most of the times, no editor window. I can open the project
inspector, select a file, but when I click "open" nothing happens.
I've been unable to find any pattern for the few times I managed to make
it work.
Invoking startlazarus from command line doesn't shed any light. The
console output is always the same, whether it works or not.
I understand that my platform is a bit outdated, but could someone point
me in the right direction, what to look at, in order to attempt a fix?
Lazarus is the latest svn, but I tried to go back up to 10808 with no
change, fpc is 2.0.4.
Thanks,
Giuliano

Still using C++ and Visual Studio? I'm using Object Pascal and Lazarus.
