Hi Ake, Thanks for your comments. Yes, performance is one of the pending subject. I'm right now giving the final touches to the new lcms-1.11 that will improve a bit both accurancy and speed. I'm now at the autoconf stuff and I hope to get a beta available next week.
Please note that Photoshop is faster only on 8 bits files, processing in 16 bits lcms actually beats PS. Next revision after 1.11, will give support for full ICC 4.1 profiles and probably 8 bits interpolation, but this is still just a plan. Hi Marti and others, First let me say that I'm extremely happy with the quality and functionality of this excellent lcms library. Nice support and frequent updates! Then, I would like to inquire about the speed of colour transforms of lcms. FYI, I have build an application which, among other things, does hot folder colour transforms. I compared 'my' application to several commercial packages, such as iQueue, Fuji ColourKit, Photoshop, ... The quality of the lcms transforms is top-notch. Actually better (less quantitisation noise, more accurate Lab reproduction) than most of the 'others'. However, the speed of transforms is relatively low. Images from my Minolta D7i (JPEG's of 2 to 3 MB) are transformed to output space in approximately 6 seconds on my machine. As a reference, Gretag's iQueue is performing the same transform well under 3 seconds. Adobe Photoshop is also very fast in transform speed, similar to that of iQueue. Before you ask, yes I did all the speed optimisations in lcms.h. Also I tried several options in cmsCreateTransform to improve speed. Yet I can't seem to be able to improve it significantly. Please note that this issue is not *that* important to me, I'm very happy with the obtained results. I just hope to get some clarification on the issue... Thanks and have a nice day, Auke Nauta __________________________________________________________ http://www.wanadoo.nl/ ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Parasoft Error proof Web apps, automate testing & more.
