In the archive, I found the following quote by Gerhard Fuernkranz (20/8/2003)
"IMO not generally, if 16bpp are used. Basically gamma=1 does reflect the native characterists of most scanner's sensors and A/D converters (at least approximately). However both, the LCMS measurement tool (which can handle 8bpp only), and the current qtscannerprofiler version do have an accuracy problem when they create profiles from gamma 1.0 scans"
My intention was to produce a scanner profile based on a 16bit raw scan with VueScan. A raw scan, as I understand, has a linear gamma. Would these lead to the above mentioned accuracy problem?
All our scanning is done in 16bit.
Would the LCMS measurement and qtscannerprofiler unsuitable for profiling 16bit scans?
Best regards, Tarlika
