Thanks Marti.

I'm just playing with the free GretagMacbeth Measure Tool - it's *almost*
working
with my Eye One Display puck, but it's returning colour values which are
wrong. :(
(e.g, strong cyan cast for a white which is close to D65) Maybe it only
works with
some older versions of the puck? (I see that it lists an Eye One Display
(CRT) and an
Eye One Display (LCD) in the list of devices - there is no entry for just
"Eye One Display")

Now, regarding the Eye One Match profiles, I certainly need absolute intent,
and I imagine
most folks doing printing would too. The reason is simple: a soft proof does
an *absolute*
intent conversion from the printer profile, to the monitor profile. (after
first converting
the image to the printer space, using whatever intent the user selects).
Thus, if I'm to do
soft proofing, it appears that I will need to calibrate my display to D50.
Perhaps most folks
who do soft proofing already calibrate their displays to D50, but we
shouldn't be *forced* to.

In my opinion, Eye One/GretagMacbeth should warn the user about this
problem, if
what you are saying is true.

Greg.
