After some careful testing with Photoshop's soft
proofing, I'm reasonably confident that the soft
proofing *does* work ok when using the Eye One
Display monitor profiles. As pointed out
to me, the V4 ICC spec mandates that the
whitepoint be D50, so the Eye One Display profiles
are to the standard. I originally
thought this was causing a problem with soft proofing, but I think
I was mistaken.
The issue regarding converting to the Eye One
Display profiles using absolute intent still stands,
but I agree that this probably isn't very
important, most of the time. (I think it's a bit of a shame,
though)
So - please accept my apologies. I am sorry for
jumping to conclusions.
Greg.
