Kai-Uwe,
If you had submitted this request one year ago, I had objected than you will get no further improvement, since the profile is already stored in 16 bits at most, and that is the maximum precision you would obtain in any case. However, ICC has recently approved a proposal on adding a new way of encoding floats. That may address some issues on digital motion picture and photo in general, and has severe implications on the precision side. Having said that, I am evaluating the amount of work to implement this tag. It certainly may mean a major version bump and then your suggestion makes a lot of sense. Anyway that means a huge rearquitecture of several pipelines. Marti, some applications would be pleased to use floating point math in parallel to fixed point math in lcms. As the floats are allready supported for input, would'nt it be consequent to use real float math for the according conversions? The code changes would be trivial? Of course the optimised versions for 8/16 bit conversion is still desired. regards Kai-Uwe Behrmann + development for color management + imaging / panoramas + email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] + http://www.behrmann.name ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys.
