No these display meters to not produce spectral data only XYZ and/or lab data. spec2cie is for converting spectral data to XYZ and Lab format (IE. CIE formats). > > I did grab the CVS for lprof awhile back (and just now see a > 'spec2cielprof' function in it?). spec2cielprof is exactly the same as argyll's spec2cie utility. We gave it a different name so that if a user should happen to install both and then remove one of them the remaining applications would continue to work without the user having to install them to different prefixes. It is used internally to convert Logo (IE. GretagMacbeth) reference files, which only have spectral data, so that LProf can use them in it's camera/scanner profiler. LProf CVS now supports EyeOne Scanner 1.4, ColorChecker DC, GS and 24 patch targets as well as the HCT targets in addition to the IT8 targets it has supported since day one. The only reasons to have both is for testing or to do totally different things in each. For example the scanner or camera profiling functionality in LProf is comparable to ArgyllCMS but much easier to use. So I could see users who use ArgyllCMS for display calibration and profiling since it is currently more mature than the same functionality in LProf but who use the camera/scanner profiler in LProf because of the ease of use without a significant reduction in functionality. > I'm glad to see that lprof hasn't died... just gone into > publicly-apparent slumber in the CVS. Actually LProf is undergoing major enhancements at this point and has been since the last release. The new functionality is still somewhere between Alpha and Beta in maturity. When this gets a little more stable we will start releasing CVS snap shots. But we are currently seeing 600 to 700 downloads a month and with the code in it's current state a release would result in a huge number of support requests much of it because the new features have not been documented at this point. At the same time we would like to see more people testing and providing feedback. So it is a judgment call as to when is the correct time to start making CVS releases available. Also while we are on this subject; like all open source projects LProf is more than wiling to accept help from anyone who would like to contribute. There are a whole range of skills needed from programmers to graphic artists. If anyone would like to help please contact me. > > Cheers, > -Cory > > On Fri, 14 Dec 2007, Hal V.
