While I have not tried to build or install lcms2, you should see if these standard configure options work to rename the binaries as you see fit: --program-prefix=PREFIX prepend PREFIX to installed program names --program-suffix=SUFFIX append SUFFIX to installed program names So adding the configure option --program-suffix=2 should name the installed programs as you suggest. If the installed lcms2 library and headers can't co-exist with lcms1, then deployment of lcms2 would be substantially hindered. It is not normally necessary to rename installed programs though.
