It's actually close to impossible to do this for more than RGB output (ie., 
CMYK->CMYK),
because the colors get squeezed through XYZ space. Getting absolute colorimetric
intent is also a trick. To do true device links, we (Colorbus) had to use 
interpreter
specific code to bypass the CRD/CSA approach (JAWS and Adobe CPSI). I don't know
if GhostScript has a similar mechanism.
