Hi,

BPC is just "make the output black to match the input black", so if you
have only the output profile then there is no way to know what input black
is.
You miss half of the equation, and without the input profile you cannot
know which is the black to map.

But fear not, perceptual intent *does* have an automatic BPC that works
without input profile. How? by forcing both, source and destination to have
a fake black of zero in the PCS, then the input black is mapped to this
fake zero and this fake zero goes mapped to the output profile. So, you can
get BPC by just using perceptual intent. Unfortunately perceptual does
other gamut mapping adjusts too.

Regards
Marti

Subject: [Lcms-user] Ouput Profile - Apply BPC

Hello

The RIP I'm using for color workflow doesn't support Black Point
Compensation (BPC). I was wondering if there is a way to apply BPC to an
output profile?

I saw that ICC has two flavors of sRGB V4 profile on their website one with
BPC and the other without. So thinking in those same lines, I was hoping
that there might be a way to apply the BPC directly into an output profile.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks!
