Hi,

I'm interested in speed of calculation, so rebuilding a profile is not an 
option. Also sometimes I do not have the original data so would have to create 
it with a CMYK to Lab conversion.

I've seen it done though where calculation of a Lab value using specific 
channels is almost instantaneous. i.e. without any iteration of values or 
re-profiling.
