[ldap] service ldap start: no can do

hello,

if i do #service ldap start i get this error:
/usr/sbin/slapd: symbol lookup error: /usr/sbin/slapd: undefined symbol:
ldap_pvt_sasl_mutex_new
                                                     [FAILED]

but if i try to start the slapd daemon this way: 
#/usr/local/libexec/slapd

i get no error, does anybody knows why?
