Hi, the truth is actually very different. There only few implementations of ldap RUNNING OVER RDBMS (the only one I'm aware of, is the Oracle's) and a couple of gateways giving access to RDBMS data over LDAP. Most LDAP Server uses a record manager as the "sleepy cat" from Berkely. If you know that even mysql uses this technology to store the final data, you can come up with the reason for that: why should I have the burden to implement an RDBMS interface, when all that I need is a record manager capability?
