Judging from my experience submitting bugfixes to the Mozilla project,
bugs that have gone unfixed this long will probably never be fixed.
I.e., nobody on the project has cared enough to investigate thus far,
and they likely never will. Their bugtracker is full of bugs that are
many years old; you can see they've been assigned to various people who
never did anything to fix them, and then those assignees left the
project. Very likely there's no one on the project today who even knows
enough about the relevant code. Bug fixes I've submitted sit around for
months before anyone gets to reviewing them. I use Mozilla (Seamonkey)
every day, but I maintain my own source tree because otherwise it would
be utterly useless to me. Other folks may see things differently, but
that's been my personal experience over the past year or so.
