Hi, I'm looking for a good address book howto .. I
found this

but the mozilla schema doesnt work..
I'd like to have a shared address book and personal
user addressbook; also the clients are winXP with
thunderbird. Anyone could give me some hints ?
It won't work [or not well enought to be worth the bother, IMHO]; TB
and other clients are read-only, and the Mozilla/TB schema is garbage.
I expect some Mozilla release in the near future will be slightly better. I've
given them some advice on their new schema, and they have recently implemented
support for the other LDAP operations in their underlying code. I haven't seen
it getting used by anyone quite yet, but you can now use the LDAP write
operations in their Javascript LDAP module. (Formerly it only supported Bind
and Search.) Also I've been working on creating a saner unified search engine
for all of their addressbook/search/filter modules (i.e., use LDAP search
filter syntax instead of the multiple bizarre search syntaxes they currently
use in each different module).
Unfortunately the Mozilla code base is huge and ungainly, and getting any work
done in there is like pulling teeth. (Having recently had my wisdom teeth
extracted, I'm not actually sure which is worse. At least you can get
anesthetic for a tooth extraction.)
