I am trying to use opendalp for authenticating samba users. I have found a
lot of outdated and conflicting documentation on the web.

I have found one document that seems promising but out of the blue he is
using some SSID's and doesn't discuss where they come from:

example:

dn: uid=gcarter, ou=People,dc=quenya,dc=org
sambaLogonTime: 0
displayName: Gerald Carter
sambaLMPassword: 552902031BEDE9EFAAD3B435B51404EE
sambaPrimaryGroupSID: S-1-5-21-2447931902-1787058256-3961074038-1201
objectClass: posixAccount
objectClass: sambaSamAccount
sambaAcctFlags: [UX ]
userPassword: {crypt}BpM2ej8Rkzogo
uid: gcarter
uidNumber: 9000
cn: Gerald Carter
loginShell: /bin/bash
logoffTime: 2147483647
gidNumber: 100
sambaKickoffTime: 2147483647
sambaPwdLastSet: 1010179230
sambaSID: S-1-5-21-2447931902-1787058256-3961074038-5004
homeDirectory: /home/moria/gcarter
sambaPwdCanChange: 0
sambaPwdMustChange: 2147483647

Where is this guy getting sambaSID and sambaPrimaryGroupSID???

I think I generate the sambaNTPassword with mtntpwd utility I download
from somewhere.
Is this correct? I have found very few documents that mention this
utility or anything like it,
just seems odd that there are so many documents out there but only a
couple mention this setting or utility.

Can anyone recommend a drop dead resource for setting up openldap with
samba that they know works?

Thanks,
CC
