Yes We can use authconfig but that is for userlevel authentication.fetchmail 
not pick authentication information from authconfig...yes a bit this is related 
to MTA also but as per my finding we need to do some changes in ldap also for 
same...

don't you need to configure nss_ldap and pam?  i know with
redhat/centos/fedora you can use authconfig to assist.
