Can someone elaborate on the CPU condition below for LDom migration from the admin guide?
The target machine must have sufficient free strands to accommodate the number of strands in use by the domain. In addition, full cores must be allocated for the migrated domain. If the number of strands in the source are less than a full core, the extra strands are unavailable to any domain until after the migrated domain is rebooted. This info was highly unexpected to me and will pose problems for migrations as many guests (development environments) will not be allocated a full core of threads. Does this mean that the other guests on that core will be quiesced for the duration of the migration? or does it mean that the threads allocated to that core simply cannot be reallocated to a new guest LDom until migration + reboot of migrated domain? If the first is true, a max loaded T5240 (128 threads) can only have 16 total LDoms (primary + 15 guests) with none on the alternate system for full redundancy. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
