Thanks for that John, This information on the bus structure was really useful
and confirms what I thought in the first place in that to isolate the internal
disks and the network on one bus and leave the other bus free for application
work I would have to purchase a PCI express gigabit network card and insert it
in PCI 1, 2 or 3 ( p...@400)- leaving p...@500 for the attached SAN storage.
However the company do not want to spend money so I'll just have to split the
buses so that internal disks are on one bus and the network and San storage are
on the other. Not sure if this will have any effect on performance ?
