Thanks - but I really don't see how that would help. If I set up vntsd on the 
IO domain to listen on an IP address then it makes no real difference to the 
vntsd running on that IO domain - telnet 0 , telnet localhost and telnet 
hostname all go to the same place (if hostname references the vntsd on 
localhost).

If you are suggesting that I set up vntsd on the control domain to listen to an 
IP address then you've missed the point.    

I have a T3-4 with two IO domains (control domain and an independent IO domain) 
- guests continue to run if the control domain goes down because disks and 
networks are virtualised through the IO domain.   

However I cannot get to the guest console because the control domain is down.   
Given that the vntsd software is installed on the IO domain (as part of 
SUNWldmu) I should be able to use that - except it does not seem to be working.
