I have a T5440, with a primary master domain with pci_0 and pci_1, and
an IO domain with pci_2.

Was trying to figure out what was in pci_3, since it was neither assigned
to
the master or the first IO domain. (It's targeted for another IO domain).

Beyond standing up an ldom, is there someway to interrogate the master
ldom or the ILOM to figure out where components are, even if they are
in a IO slot which is not allocated to an ldom?

Does 'ldm ls-io -l' help ?
not really. I can see how the pci slots are allocated. What I was looking
for is the list of components inside each pci(e) segment.

ldm list-io won't show the listing of devices when the given bus is not assigned to the primary. So, it won't help for sure. One other method is to create a small domain and assign the RC of interest to that domain and use the OBP device list
for gathering the required information.
