We are finally getting the ward council to submit auxiliary items to the
ward calendar and weaning them from Calendar Creator (old church
standard). However, many are doing dual entry because the Calendar
Creator allows them to create organizational "views" of upcoming events.
It would be nice to be able to select a calendar view based on the
mailing lists (i.e. organization) it was originally targeted for and
just print out the relevant items. If the calendar supported this, it
might also help reduce people's tendency to want to spam the ward with
their organization-specific activity announcements.
The same technique would be a nice, and relatively trivial enhancement
to the current news items as well.
The key to making it a "Trivial Enhancement" would be use the mailing
lists associated with a given event and stake or general church calendar
events, as the list of views or filters that could be combined dynamically.
Essentially, the current UI wouldn't change, just add some selection
boxes to chose the filters that would get passed to the database fetch.
