My grandmother passed away in January and as we were cleaning her house we
came across some silver "bracelets" with Hebrew writing engraved upon them.
One translates to "Holiness to the Lord" and the other to "Mannaseh
12,000".
No one in the family knows where they came from or what they are. Can you
solve the mystery? See above website for the pictures.
Well, I'm tempted to say they are teffilin, except they don't have the
little boxes and they're supposed to be worn by men, not women. The
quotes however are the same as what seem to be the usual quotes found in
mezuzah's and teffilins (is that plural right for that word?). And the
quotations are generally written on tiny pieces of paper instead of
engraved.
http://www.rabbisite.com is pretty good about answering questions. Of
course, I may be way off course on this.
